General Description
The SS3580 device is an isolated interface converter between the asynchronous serial lines RS232 and RS485 or RS422 that guarantees complete isolation between the power supply, the RS-232 serial line and the RS-485 or 422 serial line, eliminates possible grounding effects, allowing the device to be used even in harsh environmental conditions.
It is designed to work either on the RS-422 full-duplex 4-wire serial interface or on the RS485 half-duplex 2-wire, with a transmission rate up to 115.2 Kbps. The transmission is asynchronous without setting the protocol, the data format and the transmission rate.
On the RS-232 line, handshake commands (RTS, CTS, etc.) are not required to control the transmission rate.
The SS3000 series devices are designed to be easily mounted on a DIN rail, optimizing space occupancy. As long as thermal dissipation allows, the devices can be mounted side by side, allowing a significant reduction of the required space. The connections are made using removable screw terminals, in order to simplify the handling of the devices.
SS 3580 complies with the 89/336/EEC directive on electromagnetic compatibility.
The device is housed in a rugged self-extinguishing plastic container which, thanks to its thin profile of only 22.5 mm, allows high-density mounting on a standard EN-50022 DIN rail.
